A journalist by training, Katherine is a writer and editor who specialises in digital media, communications and storytelling, and has a special interest in the environment, sustainability, and equality.
At present, she is digital editor at WaterAid where she supports the organisation’s policy, programmes and advocacy teams to communicate the NGO’s work and successes through digital channels – through blogs, social media or interactive features.
Before joining WaterAid, Katherine held a variety of roles at the Guardian over seven years. She worked as a commissioning editor and writer in subjects as diverse as social care, sustainable business and global development. She also worked as a production coordinator, helping to bring together the newspaper’s digital output and supporting on data-led and community-focused journalism.
Katherine has also been UK editor of The Third Pole, focusing on Asia’s water crisis, and has reported for the Telegraph’s Small Business Connect and Community Care.
Katherine started her career as the assistant editor for the Guardian’s Live Better Challenge, after various internships at the Northern Echo, the Kentish Express, Gateway to Africa, the South African, and Smithsonian Magazine.
Away from journalism, Katherine in a keen gardener and is studying towards the RHS Level 2 Diploma in Horticulture. She also enjoys reading, cooking and hiking.
